Art Prize is a HUGE art show in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It has a $200,000 grand prize, and over $500,000 in total prize money, making it the biggest money art show in the world. It is totally awesome, and it has revitalized the city to the point that it is now a place where artists are moving to from all over the world.
This is a Mother and Daughter team from Springfield, IL. I admired their painting and asked them about it, and they told me they painted it together! Very nice, kind and aesthetic people.

Here is a gigantic metal catfish that is one of the entries in the art show. This shot was taken from a bridge!
Giant Dragon made out of some old cars off the street in Detroit. This piece has been to Burning Man 3 times. It has to be shipped in 3 trucks!
This one caught my eye because the artist used projected laser lights so that the painting seemed to change from night to day, etc. They even had a television come on in one of the houses.
This is my favorite thing I have ever seen. It is called Mobile Research Unit. It is an interactive piece, and you walk up to it and adjust the dials, which say such things as organic or inorganic, flash or dull, etc. Then you put some money in the slot. The "machine" grabs the money very fast. Then you wait, and an art piece comes out when the light turns green. .....
This was the prize that i won. The person before me got a photo of Barbara Streisand. The person after me got an autographed photo of a dog.
The best thing was that this piece caused a huge flood of emotions from everyone that looked at it. Some of the people were suspicious and wouldn't put in any money. Others thought it was hilarious. There were a few who got very panicked and asked me pleadingly what the significance was of the various prizes, and one person yelled at me, saying "How is this art, how?!!!" And I was just the only person around with the guts to put some money in the slot!
I wish I could have spent the whole weekend at this booth, it was really something!
